A series of US Navy navigational spacecraft, the Timation (Time Navigation) program followed the Transit program and preceded the NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS). Along with the Triad navigational satellites, Timation was integrated into the GPS, with Timation 3 being redesignated as Navigation Technology Satellite (NTS-1). Multiple spacecraft were placed in orbit during at least two Timation launches.
